Green smoothies are a great way to start the day. Leafy greens are high in folate, a B group vitamin that gives you an energy boost. Using ice helps to break down the fibre to get a smooth consistency.
2 handfuls of leafy greens
If using Kale, steam a whole bunch and freeze in a zip lock bag. Then add to smoothie. Raw kale is hard to digest, and this breaks down the fibrous cell walls.
Slice of organic lemon
1 apple or pineapple if in season
1 generous handful of parsley
1 cup of ice and 1 cup of filtered water
Blend all together and add more filtered water to the desired consistency. Enjoy
